Home » Eye of Horus Slot Review

Eye of Horus scores 7 out of 10 here. The return is decent, the feature is not for sale, and the game is twenty years old in spirit even if it shipped in 2017. What costs it four points is that two of the most important things about it are either hidden or quietly contradicted by the people who publish it.

The first is that this game exists in five different versions. Blueprint Gaming, which publishes it in the United Kingdom, lists all five on one page: 96.31 percent, 94 percent, 93 percent, 92.04 percent and 90.25 percent. It does not say which casino runs which. The gap between the best and the worst is 6.06 points, and on a six hundred spin hour at a half unit a spin that difference is 11.07 against 29.25. Nearly three times the cost, same reels, same artwork, no warning.

The second is the maximum win, which is advertised as 50,000 times your bet and is not 50,000 times your bet unless you keep your stake at five units or below. I will show the arithmetic from the game’s own rules screen further down.

Everything here comes from the game itself, played in the free demo on this site on 21 October 2026, and from Blueprint Gaming’s own game page. Where our own library disagrees, I say so.

Eye of Horus at a Glance

These are the published figures, every one of them taken from the game or the studio rather than from a database. Where nothing is published, that is what the row says.

Return, maximum win, paylines and the stake range come from the game’s own rules screens. The list of builds comes from Blueprint Gaming’s own game page. The three blank rows are blank because nothing is published, not because I could not find it.

The Score, and What Went Into It

Games on this site are scored on four criteria of their own: what the game returns, what it costs to reach the feature, how honest the studio is about how the game behaves, and whether a real balance survives long enough to see the feature. Each is scored 1 to 10 against the published bands on the method page. Where a studio publishes nothing a criterion can be built from, I leave it unscored and average the rest. A half rounds up.

CriterionScoreWhy
Return to player896.31 percent on the default build, which sits in the 96.20 to 96.49 band. Four quieter builds exist and the band is set by the headline figure
Cost of reaching the feature10There is no bonus buy and no ante bet. One scatter trigger opens the whole feature, tablet upgrades included, inside the same round
Volatility honesty2None of the three figures is published, and no volatility rating exists anywhere. The maximum win is advertised, which is the only thing keeping this off the floor
Session survivabilityNot scoredThe band needs a published feature frequency. Blueprint publishes none, so I will not invent one

Average of 8, 10 and 2 is 6.67, which rounds to 7. The fourth criterion stays unscored, because the figure it needs is one more thing this studio does not publish.

A 2 for disclosure is the second lowest I have given, beaten only by the 1 that Razor Shark held until its studio turned out to publish a volatility word after all. Here there is no word to find. I looked in the game, in the paytable, in the player instructions and on the publisher’s own game page, and the publisher has a heading for volatility with nothing underneath it.

What Eye of Horus Prints on Its Own Screens

The information in this game lives in two places. The question mark button opens a long page of player instructions. The grid button opens a three screen paytable, and the last of those three is where the numbers are.

Read in the free demo on this site on 21 October 2026. The stake range is the one figure here I measured rather than read, by clicking the stake dial down until it stopped and then up until it stopped.

The studio credit is worth a sentence. Our library files this game under Merkur. Blueprint Gaming publishes it in Britain. Neither of them built it. The small print at the bottom of the paytable reads under license from Reel Time Gaming, an Australian studio, and the Merkur and Blueprint names on the box are distribution rather than authorship. The same pattern turned up last week on Big Bass Bonanza, which everyone calls a Pragmatic game and which says Reel Kingdom in the corner of the frame.

Five Eye of Horus Versions of the Same Game

Blueprint Gaming’s own page for Eye of Horus lists its game identifiers and the return attached to each. I am quoting the list as it appears, because the identifiers are the point.

Game identifierReturnHouse edgeCost of a 600 spin hour at 0.50
BP_EyeofHorus96.31%3.69%11.07
BP_EyeofHorus9494%6.00%18.00

BP_EyeOfHorus9292.04%7.96%23.88
BP_EyeofHorus9090.25%9.75%29.25

The identifiers and returns are Blueprint Gaming’s, read from its own game page on 21 October 2026. The last two columns are my arithmetic: turnover of 300 at a half unit a spin, multiplied by the edge.

Look at what that table actually says. The same game, the same reels, the same falcon, can cost you 11.07 an hour or 29.25 an hour depending on a suffix in a file name you will never see. The only place the figure is visible to a player is inside the game rules screen of the build you have actually opened, which is exactly why I tell you to open it.

To be fair to Blueprint, publishing all five is more transparent than publishing one and licensing the rest quietly. Play n GO does not list the four lower builds of Book of Dead on its marketing pages. The problem is not the list. The problem is that the list stops at the identifier and never reaches the player.

So the practical rule for this game is short. Open the paytable, page to the third screen, read the line that starts RTP, and if it does not say 96.31 you are playing a version that costs you between one and a half and nearly three times as much per hour.

The Eye of Horus Maximum Win Shrinks the More You Bet

The game rules screen carries this line, word for word: the maximum win from a single game is 250,000.00 / x50,000 total bet. Two caps, and the lower of the two is the one that binds.

I checked it at a 2.00 total bet and again at the 100.00 maximum. The line does not change. The 250,000 is a fixed currency ceiling, not something that scales with your stake. Which means the advertised 50,000x only survives while 50,000 times your total bet is still under 250,000, and that stops being true the moment your total bet passes 5.00.

Total betWhich cap bindsMost you can winEffective multiple
0.10The 50,000x cap5,000.0050,000x
1.00The 50,000x cap50,000.0050,000x
5.00Both, exactly250,000.0050,000x
10.00The 250,000 ceiling250,000.0025,000x
20.00The 250,000 ceiling250,000.0012,500x
50.00The 250,000 ceiling250,000.005,000x
100.00The 250,000 ceiling250,000.002,500x

My arithmetic, from the two figures in the rules screen. The effective multiple is the lower of the two caps divided by the total bet.

At the biggest stake the game allows, the headline becomes a twentieth of itself. Twenty five hundred times your bet is still a large number, but it is not the number on the box, and nothing in the game tells you the swap has happened. This is not sharp practice, every operator caps absolute payouts somewhere, and the studio did print both figures. It is just that printing both figures on one line and leaving the reader to notice which one wins is not the same as telling them.

How the Eye of Horus Free Games and Tablet Upgrades Work

The base game is ten fixed lines of Egyptian card ranks, ankhs, scarabs and jackals. It is unremarkable and it is meant to be. Everything this game is known for happens in the free games.

Three or more pyramid bonus symbols anywhere in view award 12 free games. Inside the round the Horus wild expands to fill all three positions of its reel, and every wild that lands upgrades the tablet symbols in a fixed order shown along the top of the screen. Each upgrade turns a lower paying symbol into a higher one for the rest of the round, so the reels get richer the longer you survive.

From the player instructions. The upgrades and the extra spins come from the same wild landings, so a good round compounds in two directions at once.

That double effect is the whole design. A wild does not just pay, it buys time and it improves the reels, and the three upgrades plus five extra games that come from a triple wild are what produce the clips people post. The paytable’s top line win is the Eye of Horus symbol at 500 times the line bet for five of a kind, which at ten lines is 50 times your total bet. Everything above that comes from upgraded reels inside a long free games round, not from a single lucky spin.

Eye of Horus Has No Bonus Buy, and Why That Is Worth 10

There is no buy button in Eye of Horus. There is no ante bet either. The game dates from 2017, before either became standard, and the version I played carries an applicable date of 18 January 2023 with no shortcut added since.

The method page scores feature cost two ways. Where a buy price exists, the price is scored. Where there is none, the question becomes how many separate bonus triggers it takes to reach the best version of the feature. Here it takes one. Land three pyramids and every upgrade is reachable inside that round. Nothing is carried over between visits and nothing is locked behind a second trigger, so this sits in the top band.

Only a handful of the slots reviewed here have no buy button, and all of them are older designs. That is a pattern about when a game was made, not about the generosity of its studio.

Nobody Publishes an Eye of Horus Volatility Rating

I check three figures when I score disclosure: how often any win lands, how often the feature lands, and the odds of reaching the advertised maximum. Eye of Horus publishes none of them. That part is ordinary, most slots publish none of them.

What is not ordinary is the volatility rating, because there isn’t one. Pragmatic prints a word on the loading screen. Push Gaming prints a word on its website. Blueprint Gaming has a heading on its Eye of Horus page that says Volatility, and directly under it the next heading begins. The field exists and it is empty.

Where I lookedVolatilityHit frequencyFeature frequency

Blueprint Gaming’s own game pageHeading present, no valueNothingNothing

Checked on 21 October 2026. An empty heading is a specific kind of silence: somebody built a space for the answer and then did not fill it in.

So the game scores 2 for disclosure rather than 1 only because the maximum win is advertised, and even that turned out to need the arithmetic above before it meant anything. If you want to know how this game behaves, the honest answer is that you will have to find out by playing it, which is precisely the answer a published figure is supposed to make unnecessary.

Where Our Own Eye of Horus Library Record Falls Short

This site carries a library of just under 41,000 games fed by a third party. On the four reviews before this one I printed the fields that were wrong. Here the problem is the opposite: almost nothing is filled in at all.

FieldOur library saysThe game says

PaylinesBlankTen, always active
Minimum betBlank0.10 total

Our library entry for this game carries three fields. The four games I reviewed before this one carried eight or nine, several of them wrong. I am not sure which failure is worse.

I cannot correct these myself. The figures are rendered by the plugin that feeds the library and there is no field in our system to edit, which is a problem I would rather state than hide behind. Everything in this review that contradicts or fills in that record was read inside the game.

Scores are the average of return, feature cost and volatility honesty, each out of 10. Eye of Horus ties on seven with four other games and gets there differently from all of them, on a perfect feature cost score dragging up the worst disclosure score in the group.

Four Clauses to Check Before You Play It for Money

The game is the same everywhere. The terms wrapped around it are not, and that is where a session quietly gets more expensive. Four things are worth thirty seconds each.

First, the return printed in the game information panel, every time you open the game at a casino you have not used before. Plenty of slots ship in more than one build, and that panel is the only place the figure you are actually playing is shown.

Second, how the game counts toward wagering, and whether buying a feature voids an active bonus. Slots usually count in full, but feature purchases are excluded under most terms and some casinos cancel the bonus outright for one. The wagering terms are where both of those live.

Third, the maximum stake allowed while a bonus is running. It is commonly five euros a spin, and going over it once is enough for a casino to void everything the bonus produced.

Fourth, the cap on what you may withdraw from bonus winnings. A large maximum win means nothing if the terms stop your payout well below it, and that ceiling is printed in the bonus terms rather than in the game.

The demo runs on a play money balance that resets when you reload, with no account and no deposit. Open the menu with the button at the bottom left, then the grid icon for the paytable, then press the green arrow twice. The third screen carries the return and both maximum win caps, and those are the only numbers this game will ever give you.

Where to Play Eye of Horus for Real Money

This game is harder to find than its reputation suggests. Merkur appears in the supplier list of only two of the 36 casinos I have reviewed, and the Blueprint and Reel Time Gaming names appear in none of them. Compare that with Pragmatic Play, which is in twenty seven of the 36.

I found Eye of Horus in the lobby at VeloBet, which is where I would send you, and I will be straight about why that casino rather than a higher scoring one. It is the best scoring casino I could confirm actually has the game.

CasinoOverallGame selectionTerms fairnessReview
VeloBet Casino6 / 1010 / 105 / 10Read the review
Spinanga Casino6 / 1010 / 104 / 10Read the review
BillyBets Casino5 / 1010 / 104 / 10Read the review

Spinanga and BillyBets are the only two of my 36 reviews that name Merkur as a supplier. VeloBet does not name it and carries the game anyway, which tells you how much weight to put on a published supplier list.

VeloBet and Spinanga both average six out of ten. When casinos tie I separate them on terms fairness first, because that clause set decides whether a win reaches you, and VeloBet takes it at five against four. All three score a perfect ten for game selection, which is the one thing a library of ten thousand titles reliably buys you.

Two things to carry in with you. The first is the build. Open the paytable before you stake anything real and read the RTP line, because four quieter versions of this game are licensed and a casino is under no obligation to tell you which one it bought. The second is the ceiling. If you are betting above five units a spin, the 250,000 cap is the one that applies to you, not the 50,000x on the marketing, and any maximum win clause in a bonus you are playing through binds before either of them.

I came to this from finance, which is probably why I read a casino the way I read a contract. The marketing sits on the homepage, and the clause that decides whether you get paid sits twelve pages down.

I am responsible for everything published here. Every figure on this page came from one of two places on 21 October 2026: the three paytable screens and the player instructions inside the game, played in the free demo on this site, and Blueprint Gaming’s own game page. The stake range I measured myself by stepping the dial to both ends, and the maximum win table is my arithmetic from the two caps the game prints on one line. I checked that line again at the highest stake the game allows, because a cap that moves with your bet and a cap that does not are very different things and the wording does not make clear which it is. If you find a figure that no longer holds, write to me.

18+. Gambling can be addictive. A 96.31 percent return is a long run average across millions of spins and it describes no single session, including yours. It also describes only one of the five versions of this game in circulation, and the quietest of them keeps nearly three times as much.
