The Thunderstruck 2 RTP is 96.65 percent, and the Mega Moolah version of the same game pays 86.71 in its base game. Thor is fifteen triggers away.
Thunderstruck II returns 96.65 percent, and the version of it that carries a million euro jackpot returns 86.71 percent in its base game. Both sit in casino lobbies under almost the same name. I score the original 4 out of 10, and the return figure is not the reason.
This is a 2010 Microgaming slot, listed in most lobbies as Thunderstruck 2 and now published by Games Global, built on five reels and three rows with 243 ways to win. Its bonus is the Great Hall of Spins, and the Great Hall has four levels named after Norse gods. The level you get is decided by how many times you have triggered the bonus, not by luck on the spin.
Below you get every figure I could verify and a plain account of the ones nobody publishes. You also get the comparison that matters most, between this game and the nine other Thunderstruck titles sitting next to it in the same lobby. If you only read one section, read the one about the two returns.
Games Global does not publish a math sheet for this game. Everything in this table was cross checked against three independent databases, and where they disagree I say so in the row.
| What it is | The figure |
|---|---|
| Return to player | 96.65%, agreed by three sources. Two of them also list 96.56 and 96.10 as figures seen elsewhere |
| Studio and year | Microgaming, released 5 May 2010, with a remastered build dated 10 December 2020 |
| Grid | Five reels, three rows, 243 ways to win rather than fixed paylines |
| Stake range | 0.30 to 15 euros a spin |
| Maximum win | 8,000x your stake, though the same sources also print 8,100x, 250,000 euros and 2.4 million credits |
| Bonus | Great Hall of Spins, four levels, unlocked by trigger count rather than at random |
| Extra feature | Wildstorm, which can turn up to all five reels wild without warning |
| Hit frequency | Not published by anyone |
| Bonus frequency | Not published by anyone |
| Bonus buy | None. There is no way to pay your way into the feature |
How to read this. A game this old predates the habit of printing the math. That is not a neutral fact, and it is why the score on this page is what it is.
Casinos on this site are scored on four published criteria and so are games, on four of their own. Each is marked out of ten and the average is rounded to a whole number, with a half rounding up. Where a studio publishes nothing a criterion can be built from, I leave it unscored and average the rest. The bands behind every number are published in my scoring method.
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Return to player | 9 / 10 | 96.65 percent sits well above the ninety six line that used to be the industry default, and three independent sources agree on it |
| Cost of reaching the feature | 3 / 10 | There is no bonus buy, so the toll is paid in triggers. Thor needs fifteen of them, which almost no bankroll reaches |
| Volatility honesty | 1 / 10 | None of the three figures is published, and the numbers that circulate contradict each other on volatility and on the cap |
| Session survivability | Not scored | The band needs a published bonus frequency. There is none, so I will not invent one |
| Overall | 4 / 10 | Average of the three that could be scored, rounded |
How to read this. Nine, three and one make thirteen. Divided by three that is 4.33, which publishes as four. You can redo that arithmetic yourself, which is the only reason I print the parts.
Four out of ten for one of the best loved slots ever made will read as harsh, so let me be precise about what it measures. It is not a verdict on whether the game is fun, and it is not a claim that the return is bad. The return is the second best figure in the whole Thunderstruck family.
What the score measures is how much of this game you are allowed to know before you spend money on it. The answer, sixteen years after release, is one number out of five. A studio still earning from a title in 2026 could publish its hit frequency in an afternoon. Until it does, four is what the evidence supports.
This is the part of the page I would want read aloud to me before I deposited. There are two games called Thunderstruck II in circulation, and the difference between them is almost ten percent of everything you stake.
A note on the name before the numbers. Lobbies and search results spell this game both ways, Thunderstruck II and Thunderstruck 2, and they mean the same slot. The spelling that matters is the one next to the word Mega Moolah, because that is a different game with a different return.
The original pays back 96.65 percent. Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah, released in May 2022, pays back 86.71 percent in its base game. Three separate databases print that figure. Adding the 5.30 percentage points that fund the shared jackpot brings the total to 92.01 percent, and 5.30 is the standard contribution rate right across the Mega Moolah network.
| Version | Base return | Total return | What the lobby shows you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thunderstruck II | 96.65% | 96.65% | The game tile |
| Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah | 86.71% | 92.01% | The same tile with two words added and a jackpot counter |
How to read this. On a hundred euros of turnover, the original hands back about 96.65 euros over the long run and the jackpot version hands back about 86.71 euros before the jackpot pool is counted. That is a difference of roughly ten euros per hundred staked, and the only visible warning is two words in the title.
What do you get for those ten points? A four tier progressive, won on a wheel that can appear at random on any paid spin and cannot appear during free spins. The Mega tier reseeds at about a million euros and, across the whole Mega Moolah network, it drops roughly every eight weeks. The Major seeds at 10,000 euros, the Minor at 100 and the Mini at 10.
That is a real prize and it is not a trick. It is simply expensive, and it is sold without the price on the label. If you want the jackpot, open the jackpot version knowingly. If you want the game, open the original and check the return figure on the paytable before your first spin.
Most slots pick your bonus at random. Thunderstruck II makes you earn it, and this is the single most important thing about how it plays. The Great Hall of Spins has four doors, and they open in order of how many times you have triggered the bonus on that game, counted across sessions.
| Level | Which trigger opens it | Free spins | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Valkyrie | 1st to 4th | 10 | Every win multiplied by five |
| Loki | 5th to 9th | 15 | Wild Magic on the third reel, turning symbols wild |
| Odin | 10th to 14th | 20 | Wild Ravens, which pay at two or three times |
| Thor | 15th and after | 25 | Rolling Reels, with a multiplier that climbs to five on consecutive wins |
How to read this. Thor is the version of this bonus that the game is famous for. To see it you must trigger the Great Hall fifteen separate times. Nobody publishes how often the Great Hall triggers, so nobody can tell you how long that takes.
Read that table again with a bankroll in mind. The feature that sells the game is behind fifteen doors, and the four cheapest doors hand you the smallest version of it. A player who triggers the bonus three times in an evening has seen Valkyrie three times and nothing else.
Eight thousand times your stake sounds enormous until you convert it. At the 30 cent minimum the cap is 2,400 euros. At the 15 euro maximum it is 120,000 euros. Those are the two ends of what this game can hand a single player on one spin.
| Your stake | 8,000x in euros | What it would take |
|---|---|---|
| 0.30 | 2,400 | The best possible outcome on the smallest bet this game accepts |
| 1.00 | 8,000 | A stake most players reach only after a win |
| 5.00 | 40,000 | Fifty euros lasts ten spins at this level |
| 15.00 | 120,000 | The maximum the game allows, and 50 spins per 750 euros |
How to read this. The cap figure itself is not agreed. One database prints 8,000x, another 8,100x, a third gives 250,000 euros as a cash ceiling, and a fourth describes 2.4 million credits. Those cannot all be true at the same stake, and no studio page exists to settle it.
There is a second number missing here and it is the one that matters more. Nobody publishes the odds of reaching the cap. On a modern slot from a studio that prints its math, I can tell you that a 30,000x ceiling comes at 1 in 22 million. On this game I can tell you the ceiling and nothing about the chance, which is exactly the gap this review scores.
Fifty euros at the 30 cent minimum buys 166 spins. That is the whole budget, and it is the number to hold in your head while you read the next paragraph.
The Great Hall needs fifteen triggers before Thor opens. Since nobody publishes how often it triggers, take a generous assumption and say once every hundred spins. Fifteen triggers then costs 1,500 spins, which is 450 euros of turnover at the minimum stake. That is nine separate fifty euro balances, spent before the game shows you the feature it is sold on.
| What you are buying | At 0.30 a spin | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Fifty euros of play | 166 spins | One ordinary evening |
| One bonus trigger, assuming one per hundred spins | 30 euros | Reachable, and you will land Valkyrie |
| Reaching Loki, the fifth trigger | 150 euros | Three balances |
| Reaching Odin, the tenth trigger | 300 euros | Six balances |
| Reaching Thor, the fifteenth trigger | 450 euros | Nine balances |
How to read this. The hundred spin assumption is mine, not the studio’s, and I have flagged it everywhere it appears. If the real trigger rate is worse, every figure in this table is optimistic. That uncertainty is the point: you cannot plan a bankroll around a number nobody will print.
Three figures tell you how a slot actually behaves. How often any win lands, how often the bonus lands, and the odds of reaching the advertised ceiling. For Thunderstruck II, none of the three exists in public.
It gets worse than absence. The figures that do circulate contradict each other. Volatility is listed as high by one database, medium by another and low by a third. The maximum win appears in four different forms. Even the return figure, the one thing everyone quotes, shows up as 96.65, 96.56 and 96.10 depending on where you look.
| Figure | What is published | Where that leaves you |
|---|---|---|
| Hit frequency | Nothing | You cannot tell a dry spell from a broken session |
| Bonus frequency | Nothing | The fifteen trigger ladder cannot be costed |
| Odds of the maximum win | Nothing | The 8,000x headline has no price attached |
| Volatility | High, medium and low, by source | Three answers means no answer |
| Return to player | 96.65%, agreed by three sources | The one figure you can rely on |
How to read this. This is the whole case for scoring an admired game at 4 out of 10. The return is good. Everything else about it is unverifiable, sixteen years after release, from a studio that is still selling it.
Ten Thunderstruck titles sit in our library. They share a name, a hammer and a color palette, and they return anywhere from 86.71 to 96.65 percent. If you have ever opened one because you liked another, this table is the reason to stop doing that.
| Game | Year | Return | Maximum win | Free demo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thunderstruck | 2003 | 96.10% | 3,333x | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck II | 2010 | 96.65% | 8,000x | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck Wild Lightning | 2021 | 96.10% | 15,000x | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck Stormchaser | 2022 | 96.10%, also sold at 94.01, 92 and 86 | 10,000x | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah | 2022 | 86.71% base, 92.01% total | 8,000x plus jackpots | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck Gold Blitz Extreme | 2024 | 96.25% | 11,000x | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck Stormblitz | 2026 | 96.5, 94.5 or 92.5 | 10,000x | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck Wild Lightning Mega Moolah | Not recorded | Not published | Jackpots | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck FlyX | Not recorded | Not published | Not published | Play it free |
| Thunderstruck II Video Bingo | Not recorded | Not published | Not published | Play it free |
How to read this. Look at the two rows marked with more than one return figure. Stormchaser and Stormblitz are each sold to casinos in several settings, and the casino chooses which one you get. On Stormchaser the range runs from 96.10 down to 86, and nothing on the game tile tells you which version you have opened.
That last point is worth more than the rest of this table. The same game, under the same name, can pay back ten percentage points less at one casino than another, because the operator picked a cheaper configuration. Check the return figure inside the paytable of whatever version you open, every time, at every casino.
The game is the same everywhere. The terms wrapped around it are not, and that is where a session quietly gets more expensive. Four things are worth thirty seconds each.
First, the return printed in the game information panel, every time you open the game at a casino you have not used before. Plenty of slots ship in more than one build, and that panel is the only place the figure you are actually playing is shown.
Second, how the game counts toward wagering, and whether buying a feature voids an active bonus. Slots usually count in full, but feature purchases are excluded under most terms and some casinos cancel the bonus outright for one. The wagering terms are where both of those live.
Third, the maximum stake allowed while a bonus is running. It is commonly five euros a spin, and going over it once is enough for a casino to void everything the bonus produced.
Fourth, the cap on what you may withdraw from bonus winnings. A large maximum win means nothing if the terms stop your payout well below it, and that ceiling is printed in the bonus terms rather than in the game.
The return figure on its own tells you nothing about what a session costs. What costs you money is the return multiplied by how much you push across the table, and a slot pushes a great deal. Six hundred spins in an hour is an ordinary pace once autoplay is running.
At 96.65 percent the house keeps 3.35 percent of everything staked. Here is what that is worth at three ordinary stakes, using the same model as my cost per hour table.
| Stake per spin | Wagered in an hour | House edge | Cost of the hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| €0.20 | €120 | 3.35% | €4.02 |
| €0.50 | €300 | 3.35% | €10.05 |
| €1.00 | €600 | 3.35% | €20.10 |
Six hundred spins an hour, the house edge applied to everything wagered in that hour. These are averages over a very long run, not a prediction for one session, and the swings in either direction are far larger than the edge.
The demo runs the same build as the real money game, on a play money balance that resets when you reload. No account and no deposit. Twenty minutes is enough to feel how long the quiet stretches between bonuses run, which is the only question this game really asks of you.
One thing I have to tell you before you click. The studio blocks this demo in 79 countries, and that list includes Slovenia, Italy, Germany and Croatia. Austria and Hungary are fine. If the game will not load for you, that is the restriction and not a fault on this page.
I have reviewed and scored 36 casinos on this site. Five of them record Games Global in the supplier list I pulled from their lobby, and those five are where this game can be found. The number is small because Games Global is a wholesale name that many lobbies carry without listing.
| Casino | Score | Full review |
|---|---|---|
| Spinanga | 6 / 10 | Read the review |
| BillyBets Casino | 5 / 10 | Read the review |
| Winnerz Casino | 5 / 10 | Read the review |
| Tsars Casino | 5 / 10 | Read the review |
| Zet Casino | 4 / 10 | Read the review |
How to read this. Not one of them reaches seven. Every one of the five scores ten or eight for game selection and then loses the points on bonus terms, withdrawal handling or a license I could not find on a regulator list. I am not going to dress that up.
Spinanga is the best of the five at six out of ten, and six is a pass rather than a recommendation. If you are going to play this game for money, read what the terms say about withdrawals before you deposit, because that is where all five of these casinos lose their points. My full list of scored casinos has the rest.
What is the RTP of Thunderstruck II?
96.65 percent, agreed by three independent databases. Games Global publishes no figure of its own, which is why I say three sources rather than one. Two of those sources also list 96.56 and 96.10 as returns seen in the wild, so check the paytable of whichever build your casino has loaded.
Is Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah the same game?
No, and this is the most expensive confusion in the Thunderstruck range. The jackpot version returns 86.71 percent in its base game against 96.65 for the original, roughly ten euros less per hundred staked. You can try it on our Thunderstruck II Mega Moolah demo page before deciding.
How do you unlock the Thor free spins?
By triggering the Great Hall of Spins fifteen separate times. Triggers one to four give Valkyrie, five to nine give Loki, ten to fourteen give Odin, and the fifteenth opens Thor with 25 free spins and Rolling Reels. The count carries over between sessions on the same game.
What is the maximum win on Thunderstruck II?
8,000 times your stake, which is 2,400 euros at the 30 cent minimum and 120,000 euros at the 15 euro maximum. Be aware that the sources disagree here too, printing 8,100x, 250,000 euros and 2.4 million credits for the same game. Nobody publishes the odds of reaching any of them.
Can I play Thunderstruck II for free?
Yes, on a play money balance with no account and no deposit. The demo runs the same build as the real money game, and the balance resets when you reload the page. You will find it on our Thunderstruck II demo page, along with the rest of the family.
How often does the Great Hall of Spins trigger?
Nobody knows, because neither Microgaming nor Games Global has ever published the bonus frequency. That absence is the reason this review cannot score session survivability at all. Any site that quotes you a trigger rate for this game is either estimating or repeating somebody else who was.
Why does this review score the game only 4 out of 10?
Because the score measures how much the studio lets you verify, not how enjoyable the game is. The return earns nine out of ten. Everything else, the bonus frequency, the hit rate and the odds of the cap, is unpublished, and three criteria averaging 4.33 publish as four under my scoring method.
Which casinos have Thunderstruck II?
Five of the 36 casinos I have scored record Games Global in the supplier list I pulled from their lobbies. Spinanga is the best of them at six out of ten, followed by BillyBets, Winnerz and Tsars on five, and Zet on four. None of the five reaches seven.
How long do withdrawals take at the casinos that carry this game?
All five score between three and six out of ten on payouts and support, which is the weakest column in that group. That range covers everything from same day e-wallet transfers to pending periods measured in days, so read the individual review rather than trusting a single number for all of them.
Does the Thunderstruck II demo work in Slovenia?
No. The studio restricts this demo in 79 countries and Slovenia is one of them, along with Italy, Germany and Croatia. Austria and Hungary are not restricted. If the game refuses to load for you, that is the studio blocking your country and not a problem with this page.

I came to this from finance, so a slot review that tells me a game is atmospheric tells me nothing. What I want is every published number in one place, converted into euros and into spins, with the missing ones named out loud instead of guessed at.
Games Global publishes no math sheet for this game, so every figure here was cross checked against three independent databases on the date below, and I have written the word unpublished wherever that is the honest answer. I am responsible for everything on this page. If a number no longer holds, write to me and I will check it.
